EmPowerMe Bermuda is a free, peer-led, trauma-informed support group dedicated to empowering women through shared experience, guided healing, and personal development. We provide a safe, nurturing space that fosters resilience, emotional well-being, and self-discovery by offering advanced life skills, self-care practices, and mindset tools.
Our mission is to reduce isolation, strengthen connection, and support each woman in reclaiming her identity, voice, and power, while actively working to disrupt patterns of generational trauma and create lasting change for families and communities.
To create a compassionate, peer-led community where women impacted by trauma and addiction are empowered to heal, grow, and thrive—transforming pain into purpose, isolation into connection, and breaking the cycle of generational trauma for future generations.
At EmPowerMe Bermuda, our healing framework is grounded in the 16 Steps of Discovery and Empowerment—a holistic, inclusive, and spiritually centered alternative to traditional recovery models. Unlike rigid, one-size-fits-all programs, the 16 Steps honor each woman's unique path, emphasizing personal responsibility, self-compassion, and collective healing.
This evidence-based approach encourages women to move beyond shame and powerlessness by exploring their inner strength, building community, and embracing the possibility of transformation. Through guided reflection, open dialogue, and trauma-informed practices, the 16 Steps help our members break free from limiting beliefs, reconnect with their authentic selves, and reclaim their power—not just to survive, but to thrive.
Over the two years we have existed, we have accomplished building a small but powerful community of dedicated women who are currently engaging in our first cohort of step work to evolve from surviving to thriving.
Our non-profit, grassroots organisation is dedicated to improving the lives of women and families in Bermuda. We strive to create positive change in our community through various initiatives and programs that facilitate healing and disrupting generational trauma. Join us in making a difference today.

At EmPowerMe Bermuda, creating a safe and supportive environment is our top priority. We follow clear group guidelines rooted in respect, empathy, and confidentiality. While we are a peer-led support group and not a clinical service, all members agree to honor a shared commitment: what’s said in the group stays in the group.
We encourage honest sharing without judgment, and no one is ever forced to speak. Our facilitators are trained in trauma-informed practices to help ensure every woman feels heard, validated, and supported. Your story is yours alone—and you are always in control of how much you share.
Any woman who is navigating trauma, addiction, or emotional challenges and is seeking healing, connection, and empowerment is welcome. You do not need a diagnosis or referral to attend—just a willingness to show up for yourself.
We explore a range of topics related to healing, such as:
No. EmPowerMe is a peer support group, not clinical therapy. Our facilitators have lived experience and training in trauma-informed approaches and addiction counseling, but we are not licensed therapists. We offer support, guidance, and tools for healing in a safe, respectful community.
Explaining the link between trauma and addiction
A special message from Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, author of "The Body Keeps the Score" at Family Centre's conference on Adverse Childhood Experiences, "The Economics of ACEs", held at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, Bermuda on June 14, 2019.
At its core, this model is based on love not fear; internal control not external authoritarianism; affirmation not deflation; and trust in the ability of people to find their own healing path when given education, support, hope and choices.
